Pfizer Canada Paralympic Show Looks to Athens

Toronto, ON (December 9, 2002) - This month on “Pfizer Canada Paralympic Show” Brian MacPherson, Director General of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, talks about the 2004 Athens Games with VoicePrint’s Kelly Ashton.

In Heroes & Mentors, MacPherson discusses the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter games in relation to the Athens athletes.

“Our mission is to not only focus on the games themselves,” says VoicePrint manager Arlene Patterson, “but also the ‘Paralympic Movement’ because the accomplishments of athletes in life and in sport make an important social statement about achievements of persons with disabilities.”

The Pfizer series is a monthly program focusing on the Paralympic Movement and the 12th Summer Paralympic games set for 2004.

“If we had the games and nobody heard about them, except the attending athlete,” says MacPherson, “then we really would not be doing our job, which is to showcase excellence and empower persons with disabilities through sport. We’re thankful for the support of VoicePrint and Pfizer Canada in the production and distribution of these programs.”

VoicePrint Canada is a not-for-profit charity, set up in 1989 to enhance access to printed news and information of interest to Canada’s 3.5 million vision- and print-restricted citizens.
