News and Press ReleasesMOVIES WITH A DIFFERENCE AT THE EX!Toronto, ON (August 15, 2002) – For the first time at the Ex described movies will be shown for CNE visitors by The National Broadcast Reading Service Inc. (NBRS). Description is an unobtrusive narration added to the sound track of movies/TV shows to explain on-screen actions and characters not readily identifiable by viewers who cannot see the screen or cannot see it well. “It provides a full-movie experience for vision-restricted viewers and adds to the viewing experience of sighted friends and relatives,” says Geoff Eden, NBRS Vice Chair and Accessibility Planner, Urban Development Services, City of Toronto. Movies will run daily on the hour from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Presentation Theatre (next to Exhibit Hall B) of the National Trade Centre. The lineup, a combination of 16 movies/TV shows produced Devine Entertainment and Alliance Atlantis, is suitable for all audiences. This event is made possible with the support of The Canadian National Exhibition. AudioVision Canada (AVC), a not-for-profit service of
NBRS, was the pioneer Canadian producer of description products that allow
vision-restricted viewers enhanced and independent access to movies and
television. AVC titles are available in more than 1000 libraries thoughout
North America and overseas For more information, contact: Pamela Muñoz |
