VoicePrint's "Deadline Gold" Spotlights a
National Newspaper Award Winner in Vancouver and Toronto
TORONTO, April 4, 2002 - The light will shine brightly on Wednesday, April
10 at 12:30 and 9 p.m. on two past National Newspaper Award winners: one
from the Vancouver Sun and one from the Toronto Star.
The Deadline Gold series will honour the late Alexander Ross of the Sun
(1963 NNA winner for staff corresponding) and writer Peter C. Newman of
the Star (1964 NNA winner for feature writing).
Both articles focus on the province of Quebec and the future of Confederation.
In Mr. Ross's story, you'll meet two politicians who wanted to break up
the country. In Mr. Newman's piece, you'll meet several politicians who
sought to save it.
As well as looking back, Deadline Gold also will feature articles nominated
for 2001 National Newspaper Awards, culminating April 26 in a live broadcast
from Calgary, where this year's winners will be announced.
Deadline Gold can be heard across Canada on VoicePrint on cable through
the S.A.P. of CBC Newsworld, on Star Choice channel 825, on Express Vu
