VoicePrint's "Deadline Gold" Spotlights a
National Newspaper Award Winner in St. John's
TORONTO, Apr. 2, 2002 - The light will shine brightly
on Wednesday, April 3 at 12:30 and 9 p.m. on a past National Newspaper
Award winner: from the St. John's Telegram.
The Deadline Gold series will honour Newfoundland's Ray Guy, the renowned
- and sometimes controversial - writer and journalist (1967 NNA winner
for feature writing).
Mr. Guy's article is a caustic account of his journey to St. John's to
Port Aux Basques and back again in search of an answer to what was then
a pressing question: is a rickety, second-class railroad, which travels
through some of Newfoundland's most scenic spots, really worth saving?
As well as looking back, Deadline Gold also will feature articles nominated
for 2001 National Newspaper Awards, culminating April 26 in a live broadcast
from Calgary, where this year's winners will be announced.
Deadline Gold can be heard across Canada on VoicePrint on cable through
the S.A.P. of CBC Newsworld, on Star Choice channel 825, on Express Vu
channel 967, on Look TV channel 100 (audio 2) or live on the Internet
at www.voiceprint.ca.
